A2 to B1 Spanish sentence-building routine

Choose a sentence that you can say without translation.

Trabajo en una empresa de tecnología.

Check the subject, verb, article, and main noun. Do not add anything until the base is stable. A long sentence built on the wrong verb is harder to repair.

Add time, place, frequency, quantity, or a person.

Trabajo en una empresa de tecnología en Delhi desde 2024.

The detail should answer a real question. If it does not change what the listener knows, leave it out.

Use one connector that matches the relationship between ideas.

Trabajo en una empresa de tecnología en Delhi desde 2024, pero quiero usar más español con clientes.

Do not stack connectors because they look impressive. Use porque for a reason, por eso for a result, and pero or sin embargo for contrast.

Add a follow-up question or answer a likely one.

Trabajo en una empresa de tecnología en Delhi desde 2024, pero quiero usar más español con clientes. ¿Y tú, usas otros idiomas en el trabajo?

This step matters because speaking is not a speech. You must listen, adjust, and continue.

1. Choose one familiar prompt and speak for 30 seconds without notes.
2. Write one accurate base sentence from your answer.
3. Build the four versions and read them aloud once.
4. Hide the page and answer the prompt again for 60 seconds.
5. Listen to your recording and write down the sentence you actually produced.
6. Correct one pattern, then record a final attempt.

Keep both recordings. A smoother second attempt may come from memorising the answer, so revisit the same structure with a different topic two days later.

Before: Me gusta viajar. España es bonita. Quiero ir.

After: Me gusta viajar porque puedo conocer otras formas de vida. Me gustaría visitar España el próximo año, aunque primero necesito organizar mi presupuesto.

The second version is useful because the ideas have a relationship. It has a reason, plan, and qualification. The goal is not length for its own sake.

• Describe a normal work or study day.
• Explain a habit you want to change.
• Recommend a place in your city.
• Describe a recent problem and what happened next.
• Compare studying alone with studying in a group.
• Explain one plan for the next six months.

Use the same four steps each day. Repetition makes the process faster. The topic changes so you cannot survive on one memorised paragraph.

Choose an error that repeats or changes meaning. A tense that puts yesterday's event in the present deserves attention. A missing accent in a private speaking note does not.

Use this order:

1. Is the message understandable?
2. Does the verb place the event at the right time?
3. Are the subject and object clear?
4. Does the connector match the relationship?
5. Can you say the corrected sentence without reading?

Return to two steps. Build the base sentence, add one detail, and stop. If you need a dictionary for every noun, choose a more familiar prompt. If the sentence is correct on paper but disappears in speech, shorten it and repeat after a brief pause.

This routine supports speaking practice. It cannot certify B1, and it does not replace listening or interaction with other speakers.
